B&K Precision Introduces New 1500 VA AC Power Source

Offering Programmable AC Voltage and Frequency Up to 450 Hz

YORBA LINDA, CA, January 24, 2011 -- B&K Precision today introduced a new AC power source, the model 1657, to further diversify its power supply offerings. The 1657 delivers up to 1500 VA in two selectable output voltage ranges of 135 VAC or 270 VAC, at frequencies from 45 Hz to 450 Hz. With a standard 19" rack-mountable design, this new AC power source is suitable for automated test environments and provides a complete solution for industrial product testing applications in design and manufacturing.

Important for engineers and technicians is the ability to characterize product performance on various line voltages, or under less than ideal input power conditions.  Settable voltage and frequency parameters in AC sources are therefore an absolute necessity for input voltage margin testing at 50 and 60 Hz, or in avionics testing where equipment is operated at the 400 Hz range.

The high efficiency 1657 features a programmable AC output voltage up to 270 VAC, and an adjustable frequency from 45 Hz to 450 Hz. The power source offers a universal line output terminal and built-in PFC to provide an input power factor of 0.99 at full load.

Voltage and frequency parameters are set via the front panel’s easy-to-use control knob, paired with a bright VFD display that continuously displays the output voltage, current, power, and frequency with a 0.1 V / 0.01 A / 1W / 0.01 Hz resolution. Users will also benefit from the 1657's RS232 remote interface for remote communication through a PC.

The 1657 provides automatic protection against overload, short circuit, and overtemperature conditions indicated by an alarm LED, as well as a convenient output On/Off switch for additional safety.
Available immediately, B&K Precision's 1657 AC power source is listed at a price of $4,250.

B&K Precision Expands Power Supply Line with New High Power Models

Targeting High Current Applications at a Low Cost

1693_intro

1900_intro YORBA LINDA, CA, April 13, 2011
– B&K Precision has added five new value-priced DC power supplies to their already impressive product offering: models 1693, 1694, 1900, 1901, and 1902. These new switch mode power supplies provide current up to 60 amps and power up to 960 watts, helping B&K Precision continue to lead as a provider of affordable bench and rack test equipment. With a complement of diverse features, these new DC power supplies are suitable for use in production testing, R&D, service, and university labs.

With their lightweight and compact forms, models 1693 and 1694 join current model 1692–B&K Precision’s previous constant voltage power supply–adding additional voltage and current configurations, remote sensing terminals, and an auxiliary output. At 900 watts output, the 1693 and 1694 also provide a variable voltage output from 1 to 15 V at 60 A and 1 to 30 V at 30 A, respectively.

For increased power density and value-added features such as constant current mode, users can choose from models 1900, 1901, and 1902. In addition to their wide range of voltage and current configurations, and auxiliary output, these models offer rotary encoder knobs for precise level setting, and user-defined presets for quick recall of common test parameters.

A dependable switch mode power supply must offer solid load and line regulation with low output noise. B&K Precision incorporated these criteria into the design of these new power supplies, while keeping the price points within users' budgets. Additionally, the new models have several features typically not found in non-programmable power supplies. All models include an analog remote control terminal that allows for external adjustment of the variable output voltage or current, and bright 3-digit LED displays for accurate and highly readable indication of both voltage and current settings. Models 1693, 1694, and 1900 also feature remote sensing capability to compensate for voltage drops due to any load lead resistances. Protection circuitry is paramount for a reliable power supply–all five models offer overtemperature protection, current foldback circuitry to prevent overloading, and overvoltage protection.

These reliable DC power supplies provide high power and high current performance at low cost per watt affordability. Available for immediate delivery, models 1693 and 1694 are priced at $479 and models 1900, 1901, and 1902 at $599. Visit www.bkprecision.com for detailed product specifications.

Model 1673 from B&K Precision for accurate, reliable, clean power

1673_intro
YORBA LINDA, CA, December 10, 2010 -
B&K Precision has introduced its 400-watt, triple output DC power supply, Model 1673. With twice the output power of the popular selling Model 1672, the 1673 further expands the power range of B&K Precision’s triple output DC power supply line. B&K has long held a strong position as a supplier of choice among engineers and technicians, and with this product introduction, continues to meet the ever-growing demand for a diverse array of power supply applications within education, design and test, service, maintenance, manufacturing, and quality control.

In addition to a noticeable cost per watt savings, B&K Precision’s Model 1673 offers several other noteworthy features such as a quad digital display, which enables the user to visually monitor the output voltage and current on both variable outputs simultaneously. The 1673’s two variable outputs, configurable from 0 to 32 VDC, and one fixed output of 5 VDC provide reliable, clean power. The two variable outputs can also be used independently or interconnected in either series or parallel configurations for greater output voltage or current requirements.

The power supply can easily be set via the front panel to provide constant voltage (CV) or constant current (CC) operation with automatic crossover. This feature allows for continuous transition from either constant current to constant voltage mode in response to any load condition changes with a front panel LED indicator to indicate which mode is active.

For customers who value a reliable power supply at an affordable price, B&K Precision provides high quality, feature-rich, and easy-to-use instrumentation. Its introduction makes the 1673 B&K’s highest-powered triple output power supply, yet its list price of $829 fits within tight budgets. B&K Precision Extends its Power Supply Line with ATE Series

New XLN Series for ATE System Integrators and Benchtop Users

Image002 YORBA LINDA, CA, January 26, 2010 – B&K Precision’s new XLN series of DC Power Supplies provide up to 1440 watts of power in a compact 1U, full-rack case for rack mounting in an ATE environment, or for bench top use.  The XLN series contains four base models to choose from with various output voltage and current selections and optional GPIB/LAN interface.  All units include free application software for remote control capability without the need for computer programming.

For the ATE user, ease of system integration is important. These power supplies simplify the building and operation of custom test systems for a broad range of applications. Their compact size, and high power density with fast processing times below 50ms, make for easy integration into test systems, while front to rear airflow circumvents interference with other mounted devices.

Bench top users of the XLN series can interact with a full keypad and rotary encoder knob for easy interface, and precise voltage and current adjustments.  The additional list mode feature lets users create up to 150-step test sequences, which are executed from internal memory.

All four base models use standard USB and RS485 interfaces with SCPI protocol.  Optional GPIB and LAN interfaces are available as well to make the XLN series flexible for any test situation. This option includes a built-in web server, which allows users to control basic power supply settings through a web browser.  Another noteworthy feature is the master and slave mode, which greatly simplifies configuration and control of several power supplies connected in series and parallel while using the RS485 interface for synchronization.

Clean power, low ripple, and low noise qualify these new B&K Precision power supplies for the most rigorous test situations; i.e., product design and development, product QC and burn-in testing, production, or any application requiring large amounts of clean power.  Each XLN unit includes a comprehensive protection design for safe interfacing with any unit under test.

These new versatile DC power supplies have a wide range AC input voltages for use in any region. All of the XLN series Power Supplies ship with a full two-year warranty and are priced at $2275 for the base models and $2495 for the GL versions with GPIB/LAN interfaces added.  With this new series, B&K Precision now offers a full range of quality power supplies from basic to system power supplies for demanding ATE applications without the expense of higher priced brands.
